Happy new year all!
I'm here to present you with a special お年玉 this year: the start of our original series Learning Through Living! In Learning Through Living, we'll be providing you with study materials to help you learn Japanese as you go through your everyday life: Entering your very subconscious while you go about your daily life, infusing your brain with Japanese-y goodness!
Excited, aren't you?
What is Learning through Living?
Learning through Living aims to bring you materials that you can stick up once and forget about through your daily life. Put them in places that you often walk through, or glance at, and over time the words and meanings will start to slip into your subconscious -- you'll start learning without even realizing it.
Living-room Placards
This set of 22 (and 2 blank) placards help you remember the things in your house. We, as non-native learners of Japanese, often have huge blanks in our vocabulary for everyday items that don't come up in everyday conversation. Not being kids, we never learn the word for slide (ブランコ), tug-of-war (綱引き) or teeter-totter (no idea whatsoever).
The same is true about the things in our house.
Just cut out these handy-placards and tape them to the various things in your home, and start learning through living!
Each of the cards is designed with a Japanese/Ippatsu motif, to give your studying a tad more visual flare than simple index cards or post it notes.

I find it best to cut these out on semi-cardstock or other suitably heavy paper, but any paper is fine.
